Need help getting from start to finish without missing anything? You’re in luck! I’ve written stuff to help you do that. Each manual here is specific to a particular waterproofing method and combination of walls / base of your shower. As I finish the additional manuals they will be added to this page. If you don’t yet see yours check back soon – it will be here.

Over the next week or so I’ll get everything loaded up here, it’s a process, people! I’m just a tile guy, ‘fer cryin’ out loud. I’m working on it.

For now we’ll start with the basics:

Start here: Choosing a Waterproofing Method for your Shower

Download this free manual to figure out which method would be best for your project. It will walk you through each method so you can figure out which one fits your budget, skills and time frame.

Once you decide which to use you can find the specific manual you need for your particular installation. It will also help you weed out many misconceptions about certain methods as well as shower building in general.

Traditionally waterproofed shower base and walls

Building a traditionally waterproofed shower for tile

This manual includes the proper procedure for creating a traditionally waterproofed shower with tiled floor and walls. It walks you through the entire process from bare wall studs and floor up to a completely waterproofed floor and wall substrate ready for tile.

If you’ve decided you want to use the traditional method and you are tiling both the floor and walls of the shower – this is the manual you need.

It includes the entire process instructions, photos, graphics and bad humor – all in one manual! I’ve also thrown in a materials and products list of things you’ll need as well as an ‘order of events’ checklist which you can print out and check off as you move along so you don’t miss anything.

Traditionally waterproofed shower walls around a tub or pre-formed base

Traditional Waterproofing for Tub and Shower WallsThis manual describes the proper procedure and materials for waterproofing the walls around your tub or pre-fomed shower base. It will take you through the entire process from bare wall studs around your shower up to a completely waterproofed shower surround ready for tile.

If you already have a tub or pre-formed shower base like acrylic, Swanstone, cast iron, etc. and are only tiling the walls around it – this is the one you need.

It includes complete instructions, photos, graphics and checklists for the entire process. I’ve thrown in plenty of bad humor and some ridiculously obscure sitcom references completely free of charge!
