Create Your Own Shower Ebook

The ebook is done so the drunken banter commentary below is simply there to amuse, or not amuse, depending upon how drunk humorous you are. The form to the right will get you what you need. Simply fill out the form and hit submit and I’ll have the elves take you where you need to be. Well, enough to get the ebook anyway, we can’t work miracles here unless it deals with tile.

/*Start drunken banter commentary*/

I have been thinking about doing this for a while now and it has been (repeatedly) suggested by some of my readers. If there is enough interest I am going to finally sit down and write an ebook instructing you, the wonderful readers, how to create your own shower from scratch using only the items found at any drugstore! Ok, not a drugstore, but the ebook part is true.

Just for jumping on the bandwagon clicking the link you clicked to reach this page, I am going to send everyone that leaves a comment fills out the form a copy of my ebook for free! Just leave a comment in the box fill out the form at the top right of the page and when the ebook is finished you’ll get a shiny brand new copy with which you can impress your friends, amaze your co-workers, and, most importantly, get your wife off your ass about finishing that bathroom remodel you started . . . how many months ago was that?

Just leave me a quick note – anything you want – to let me know you’re interested and you will be the proud recipient of one of the best ebooks on the planet! If there are no comments yet, don’t worry, I just put this page up today. No one knows yet, get your comment in quick before it goes viral!

I’ll warn you, though, I get easily distracted so if no one comments or shows interest I’m unlikely to get off my lazy ass and get it done. Tell all your friends, too, the more comments the faster I work. I’m weird like that. Well, I’m weird in a lot of ways – but that is one of them.

So write me a note, write me a song, tell me my blog sucks, whatever, just get it on here and try not to stay awake nights in unfettered anticipation. Leave your comment below and get ready for:

THE BEST EBOOK ON THE PLANET!!!!! :D

And if I can’t get a hold of that I’ll send you mine.

My daughter just removed some of the ugliest blue tile smeared with white silicon off her tub/shower enclolsure and she asked me what to do now.

I did a google search after AI went to DIYnetwork and Ask This Old house and arrived here with the floorelf

Glad I did.

The house was built in 1908 has been warped by a prevailing wind out of the West and all its walls are not plumb or straight but it is well built of unplained 2×4 and lath and horse hair plaster.
I shall have specific queries for you in the next few days
Thank you for doing this and for the ebook ic it is ready?

John

Roger -

Like many I stumbled across your site after discovering a leaky, moldy shower and have decided to redo it myself. I’m going to jump in the entire way and tile the whole deal.

I should be able to do it right…? Right.

Maybe.

Anyways – I’d love a copy of your book to push me in the right direction.

Thanks!

I am not putting a curb in my walk in shower so how do you finish the membrane there? and then how can you fill with water to test for leaking? I have not read all our instructions yet, but what I have read is helpful.

Hi Pattie,

The two ways to do a curbless shower are to have the shower area actually set lower, or that portion of the floor lowered, than the bathroom floor or to create a ‘speed bump’ at the entrance of the shower.

With the first method the liner simply ends beneath the bathroom floor which sets higher than any portion of the shower. Your pan is then filled to just beneath that level and tested for leaks.

With the ‘speed bump’ method your floor will rise then fall back down to the drain creating a speed bump at the entrance to the shower. In this method the liner is run up and over the speed bump and ends at the bottom outside of the bump. The pan is then filled to just below the highest level of the speed bump and tested for leaks.

The best and easiest method of creating a curbless shower is with a topical waterproofing membrane such as Kerdi, Hydro-ban, or Redgard. With this method you don’t need to worry about a double layer of deck mud or where to place or end your liner, you simply fabricate the shape then waterproof it.

Thanks for the web site. I think I can do this. I started to repair what I thought was a leak at the shower curb at the door frame and I have torn the tile out halfway up the door frame already and it is wet and moldy behind the tiles. I the studs are soaked too. I might as well rip it all out. In my desperation I saw your site and it gave me a shot of hope. I cant afford to hire somebody right now. I don’t know what they did wrong for the water to get behind the tiles but I want to do it right this time. could you send me the e book? Thanks

I found your site when searching for info on making deck mud. Your advice on using Sand and Topping mix + sand worked perfectly.

I am laying some beautiful floor tiles and they look better without grout. I nearly made the mistake of butt tiling and then I read your article above about the pitfalls of not using grout. Thanks a lot for posting that

Found your web site after I have finished the dry pack mortar base for my 3*6 shower Using Kerdi Drain and Membrane.

However, am concerned that one of my mixes had too much water (possible shrinkage!!!) Pictures would help this DIY

We are trying to get one of our showers done before family arrives at Thanksgiving….we have two to complete. Your posts have helped a great deal! If we don’t see the e-book before the first shower goes in, then we’ll use it for the second one…with a little experience in hand. Thank you for all you do!

Very good information, ..just poured the preslope layer of deck mud in the process yesterday, looks good so far…keep the information coming..need info where to get the preformed corners..thanks

Reply

Roger October 11, 2009 at 10:44 am

Hey Bob,

You should be able to get the pre-formed corners at one of the big box stores. You will probably have to ask several people or look around since most of them probably don’t even know what they are. :D
You can see what they look like HERE It is towards the bottom of the page. They are called outside/dam corners. They also come in black.
Hope that helps.

Your absolutely correct! I’ve been meaning to sort through my ridiculous number of photos and get some up here but I’m slightly impaired like that. :D

I’ll do that this weekend. And I’ll send you my ebook when I get it finished. Thanks for the kick in the pants!
